Botswana is one of Africa’s most loved safari locations and the Okavango Delta is, undeniably, one of the finest safari spots within this spectacular country. -

The Okavango Delta lies within the Kalahari Desert and is renowned for its waterways dispersed between extensive grassy plains and sandy pockets of land. The Delta itself is rich with wildlife; 164 species of mammal, 157 species of reptile and 540 species of bird regard this exceptional area of Africa as home. Guests can expect to enjoy some of the world’s best game viewing in the Okavango Delta as predators such as lions, cheetahs and the elusive leopard freely roam the lands.

The beauty of the Delta in the wet season is so often discussed that the benefits of visiting during the dry season can be forgotten. Here are some examples of exceptional activities in the Delta throughout the year…

The Delta

Phenomenal Game Drives

One of the best aspects of a safari holiday is embarking on game drives, viewing some of the world’s most spectacular wildlife. Guests have the opportunity to spot animals up close with an expert guide, during daily drives in open 4x4 vehicles. The variety of animals in the Okavango Delta is vast including and not limited to: hippos, elephants, lions, giraffes, leopards and rhinos. The area also boasts a diversity of landscapes with desert, dry savannah, lagoon and swamps all in close proximity.

Walking safari and sunset

Adventurous Walking Safaris

Walking safaris are an incredible year-round activity. Our professional guides will show guests the bush on foot. This is a chance to see the Delta from a different perspective; up close and personal with the surrounding environment.

Elephants in the Delta

Living with Elephants

The Living with Elephants Foundation is devoted to providing rescued African elephants with a second chance and safe home in the Okavango Delta. Currently under care are Jabu and Morula. As guests walk with the elephants they will witness private moments as the elephant’s forage, mud wallow and amble through the bush. This is an intimate and highly educational walk where guests will learn about the status of the African Elephant, their role in the ecosystem and conservation in general. (Please note – This is an additional cost).

Flying over the delta

Unforgettable Helicopter Flights

Flying over the Okavango Delta is a once in lifetime experience regardless of the season. Our scenic flights involve flying west towards the permanent Delta, exposing areas which are unreachable by vehicle or boat and showcasing the area's sheer enormity. There is the option of the doors being removed for unrestricted photographic opportunities. As a personalised activity, guests can choose when to fly, however we would recommend early morning and late afternoon as this time usually provides the best light for photography. (Please note – This is an additional cost).
