Southern Spain is a land comprised of varying cultures and terrains. In the 13th century Catalan settlers brought their language and culture to the islands. This part of Spain can satisfy everyone’s tastes: from sun-seekers enjoying the wealth of sandy beaches, to jet-setters, who prefer luxurious, discreet hideaways in the hills. The largest island is Majorca whose massive Gothic Cathedral stands near the waterfront of Palma, the capital. It is the most culturally rich of the Balearics with galleries and museums.
