10 Night Nile Cruise

Day 1

On board in Aswan

Arrive on board, where you will be welcomed by reception staff. A variety of entertainment will be offered during your cruise including a "galabeyya party" with the opportunity to dress up in traditional Egyptian dress. Lunch and afternoon tea today will be served onboard. During the afternoon take a short motorboat ride to visit the Philae Temple and then to the Granite Quarries and the Aswan High Dam. Tonight you will be greeted by your Boat Manager as you enjoy a selection of canapés with complimentary Egyptian wine and local beer. Gourmet dinner served on board.

Day 2

Sail to Edfu


Breakfast will be served in the lounge.

Lunch and afternoon tea will be on board while you cruise.

Explore the largest and most completely preserved Pharaonic - albeit Greek-built - temple in Egypt, the extraordinary Temple of Horus at Edfu. You will also visit the stunning Temple of Kom Ombo, dedicated to the crocodile-god Sobek. 

A gourmet dinner will be served on board.

Day 3

Early morning sailing to luxor


Breakfast buffet and lunch will be on board while crusing.  During the afternoon visit Karnak Temple which was built over more than a thousand years by generations of Pharaohs. The highlight of this temple is the great "Hypostyle Hall", an incredible forest of giant pillars covering an area larger than the whole of Notre Dame Cathedral. Then proceed with your Egyptologist guide on a tour of the strikingly graceful Temple of Luxor dedicated to the god Amun. 

Afternoon tea will be served in the lounge and a gourmet dinner will be served on board.

Day 4

Valley of the kings


Breakfast buffet on board.

During the morning explore the Valley of the Kings, a vast City of the Dead where magnificent tombs were carved into the desert rocks, decorated richly and filled with treasures for the afterlife by generations of pharaohs, and Hatshepsut Temple. On the way back to the river Nile you will stop at the famed Colossi of Memnon, known in ancient Greek times for their haunting voices at dawn.

Lunch, afternoon tea and a gourmet dinner will be served while you cruise.

Day 5

Denderah


Breakfast buffet on board.

This morning visit the Ptolemaic Temple of Goddess Hathor in Denderah, a wonderfully preserved temple complex and a rare sight complete with a massive stone roof, dark chambers, underground passages and towering columns inscribed with hieroglyphs. Hathor, the goddess of pleasure and love, was often associated with the Greek goddess Aphrodite. 

Lunch, afternoon tea and a gourmet dinner will be served while sailing.

Day 6

abydos


Breakfast buffet on board.

This morning visit Abydos which was the center of a holy city dedicated to Osiris, Lord of the Netherworld. It was also the burial-place for Pre-dynastic kings and pharaohs dating back to the fourth millennium BC.

Lunch, afternoon tea and a gourmet dinner will be served on board.

Day 7

red and white monasteries


Breakfast buffet on board. 

Morning visit to the White Monastery of Saint Pigol at Sohag and the Red Monastery of Saints Pigol and Pishoy. Like its white counterpart, the Red Monastery is architecturally similar and its old church is the only original standing feature left. These monasteries hold important sculptures and paintings dating throughout the fifth and fourteenth centuries.

Lunch, afternoon tea and a gourmet dinner will be served on board while sailing to Assuit.

Day 8

tel el amarna


Breakfast buffet on board.

Morning visit to Tel el Amarna which was once the 'city of Akhetaten'. Tel El Amarna was built by Egypt's heretic king, Akhenaten for his revolutionary religion that worshipped Aten during the Amarna Period. The vast city was shorting abandoned after the death of its creator.

Lunch, afternoon tea and a gourmet dinner will be served on board while sailing to El Minya.

Day 9

rock tombs of beni hassan

Breakfast buffet on board. Early morning visit to the Rock-tombs of Beni Hassan: These rock-cut tombs are carved into the high limestone cliffs of the east bank of the Nile and were built for the provincial rulers of the state. Out of thirty-nine tombs there are four currently open to visitors. Painted scenes inside the tombs depict the daily lives of the rulers and their families in the provincial community including scenes of desert hunting. The most interesting scenes are those of battles and wrestlers. Lunch, afternoon tea and a gourmet dinner will be served on board while sailing to Beni Suef.

Day 10

Sail to cairo


Buffet breakfast on board while cruising with the morning and afternoon at leisure.

Lunch and afternoon tea will be served on board while sailing to Cairo. 

Tonight's farewell dinner will be a gala dinner (jacket required) with white-gloved waiters serving gourmet cuisine.

Depart Cairo
