On arrival at Maun Airport, a Mack Air representative will meet and assist you to your onward flight to Baines' Airstrip. On arrival at the airstrip a Sanctuary Baines' Camp representative will meet and transfer you to the camp. The transfer is approximately 45 minutes and forms part of your first game drive on the private concession.
Sanctuary Baines' Camp is located on the Boro River, set amongst the shady trees and water of the Okavango Delta, on a 260,000 acre private concession. The camp named after the famous nineteenth century explorer Thomas Baines, The main area features an oversized deck for outdoor dining and views over the permanent water of the lagoon. Over the course of the next three days our guides will turn a holiday into the experience of a lifetime. Highly trained and deeply knowledgeable, they will show off their expertise by showing and teaching guest how to survive in the Delta.

The day is at leisure to enjoy the activities on offer. Today you might learn about:

• Poling a mokoro: A mokoro is a local dug-out canoe commonly used in the Delta. It is propelled through the shallow waters of the delta by standing in the stern and pushing with a pole, in the same manner as punting.

• Fishing: Your guide will teach you how to make traditional spears for fishing and how to catch fish in the delta using a rod. (All fishing is on a catch & release basis).
• Tracking: Ever wanted to know how to track an animal on foot? Your guide will teach you the intricacies of tracking game and how to identify different animal tracks.
• Find out how to identify and find edible plants (seasonal).
• Learn how to make rope out of natural materials.
• Learn how to find water in the bush

The day is at leisure to enjoy the activities on offer. Today you might learn about:

• Trapping: Learn how to construct and place traps to catch wildlife (theory practical only)
• Palm nut harvesting.
• Building a shelter: Our guides have a wealth of knowledge on what materials to use.
• Navigate by the stars/sun: Avid astronomers will delight in this age old form of navigation.
• Basket weaving: The local women will teach you how to weave your own basket - the perfect present to take home!

Once you've completed your bush skills adventure you will receive a certificate to say you've completed your adventure of a lifetime course.

After breakfast a camp representative will transfer you to the airstrip for your Mack Air shared light aircraft charter flight to Maun.  The flying time is approximately 10 minutes. Kindly note, however, that all inter-camp flights are subject to multiple pick-ups and drop offs en route to your destination which could affect the flying time.
