Evelyn is a proud Botswana citizen who was in the Travel Industry before joining Sanctuary Retreats in 2007. Evelyn was the MD of Magic Travel & Tours in Gaborone for more than four years. She worked as a Travel Consultant for Kudu Travel in Gaborone and Reservations Consultant for Comair, as it was called then before merging with British Airways. Before then she worked as a Flight Attendant, Passenger Services Agent & Baggage Claims Officer for Air Botswana.
Basadi holds a certificate in Business Management, and joined Sanctuary in March 2002, starting out at Chobe Chilwero, after working for Cresta Mowana Lodge for 8 months. After working as a waitress for 2 years, she was promoted to Trainee Manager. After a further 2 years she was again promoted to the position of Assistant Manager, a position in which she excelled. She then took up the position of Relief Manager for the Delta Camps, which allowed her to put her valuable experience to use which in turn led to her being appointed as Camp manager at Sanctuary Chief's Camp
Kaye "Sky" Manawa
Sky as he is affectionately known by both colleagues and guests is am easy going character which suits his guiding profession perfectly. He was born in a small village along the Okavango River and grew up heading cattle. Sky left for Maun in 1999 where he enrolled with the Okavango school for guides training. He joined the team at Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero in 2008 and loves playing football and swimming in his spare time.
Benson joined Sanctuary Lodges and Camps in July 2006. He has a passion for nature conservation, photography, birds and mammals. He enjoys a joke and has a dry sense of humour. Benson won’t hesitate to going the extra mile for his guests to demonstrate his great tracking skills and knowledge of the surrounding flora and fauna and knowledge he has obtained from guiding in the Delta region for the past twelve years.
Martin first obtained his guides license in 1999 as a grade A guide and subsequently upgraded to a full guide in 2001. He joined Sanctuary Baines' in 2004 as a professional guide and still loves the bush. With his exceptional knowledge of the Okavango Delta and its fauna and flora, he has a true love and passion for his county and its wildlife.
Keletile has done extensive guiding with mobile safaris in very diverse areas such as Nxai pan, the central Kalahari and the Moremi game reserve. In April 2005 he worked as a field researcher doing work on the brown hyena in the Makgadikgadi salt pans. After this he was involved with Lion and Wild dog research projects in the Okavango delta and Moremi nature reserve. Keletile completed his practical training in the western part of the Kruger National park. He joined Sanctuary Retreats in May 2011 and will be based at Chiefs Camp.
Andre van Vuuren
Born in Swaziland and raised in Botswana, Andre moved to England for a few years after his schooling where he did various jobs in the building industry before moving back to Africa and completing a degree in Nature Conservation at the Saasveld campus of NMMU. He worked at a private game reserve in South Africa as the conservation manager, where he was involved with white rhino and general game management before moving to Zambia. He spent most of his 4 years there developing infrastructure, doing anti-poaching and general lodge development and management in the Kafue National Park with a brief stint in South Luangwa. On his return to Botswana in 2010 he spent a year in the Western Kalahari as a game ranch manager before joining Sanctuary Retreats at the end of July 2011. He was initially employed as the NG32 Concession Maintenance Manager based at Stanley's, before moving to Baines' Camp where he oversaw NG32 concession issues as well as being an important part of the Baines management team. Next, Andre worked as Technical Services Manager Botswana where he oversaw the technical services department for all Botswana camps. After spending two years based in the town of Maun he wanted to return to the bush life and joined the Chobe Chilwero Team as Concession Manager before moving to Chief’s Camp as the Concessions Manager.
