Uyoba Classroom Construction in Zambia
Last year we identified a desperate need at Uyoba Community School in South Luangwa for additional classroom space. The school, which is located just outside the Game Management Area (GMA) nearby to Sanctuary Puku Ridge and Sanctuary Chichele Presidential Lodge, was operating with only four classrooms to accommodate the 700 pupil body.
Sanctuary Retreats Philanthropy in partnership with USA based NGO, Africa Hope Fund, teamed together to build a classroom block, offering more space for the pupils and teachers.
Inside new classroom
The block provides three large classrooms, store rooms, teacher's staff room as well as a safe room where sensitive documents can be stored securely.
Planting the beds
The pupils are also planting up the beds outside the classroom with hardy drought tolerant plants to add to the aesthetics of the classrooms and school grounds.
Grade 5 class in new classroom
The pupils and teachers have expressed their gratitude in providing the classrooms and are delighted with the much needed extra space; we in turn would like to thank our Sanctuary Retreats guests travelling on Zambia safaris for making this initiative possible.
